Trust backs Greytown RSA’s Cenotaph Project with Major Funding Boost
The Trust is proud to support a significant community initiative led by the Greytown RSA, with cornerstone funding commitment of $40,000 towards the development of a new cenotaph at the town’s memorial swimming baths.
Recognising the historical and cultural significance of this project, Trustees agreed to fund it through our Projects of Substance programme, rather than the regular community funding round. The cenotaph will stand as a lasting tribute to all local service personnel past and present and reflects the important lasting heritage of defence force service in the history of our town.
Funding will be provided in two stages and will be made available once the wider financial support required to commence the project has been secured.
We look forward to working closely with the RSA as the project progresses and are honoured to play a role in helping bring this important memorial to life for current and future generations.
A short presentation was made at our recent Annual General Meeting at which Bryce Gurney, President of the Greytown RSA Branch gave a brief overview of the project.
“Heather Fairbrother (Chair of the Cenotaph Fund Raising Committee) is thrilled to have the support of the Greytown Lands Trust and looks forward to working with the Trust as our fund raising continues.”
