Protecting Greytown’s Historic Oak Trees

The Greytown Lands Trust was pleased to provide emergency funding to assist St Luke’s Church with urgent safety work on six historic oak trees along Church Street. These trees, highly valued by the community, were damaged in a recent storm, creating a significant hazard along the public footpath.

With the Trust’s support, Arb Solutions was able to carry out structural safety improvements quickly, reopening the footpath by 3 pm on the day of the work.

The trees are a cherished community asset, offering shade, beauty, and public access alongside the Church, hall, and playground. The Trust’s contribution ensured that the work could be completed safely and efficiently, protecting both people and the historic landscape for the wider Greytown community.
