Trustees announce latest funding recipients

We are pleased to announce the successful recipients of the latest Greytown Lands Trust Community and Sport & Active Recreation Funding rounds.

This year's Community Funding round approved $29,611 to support the following organisations and projects:

  • Alzheimer's Wairarapa

  • Hōkai Tahi Charitable Trust

  • St Luke's Music and Movement

  • Greytown Toy Library

  • Wairarapa Youth Orchestra

  • Digital Seniors

  • Pāpāwai–Mangarara Stream Catchment Group

  • Greytown Trails Trust

  • The Social Crust (Greytown Foodbank)

  • Hato Hone St John Wairarapa Health Shuttle

The Sport & Active Recreation Funding round approved $4,936 to support:

  • Nilah Savage, representing New Zealand at the 2026 Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada.

  • Owen Wos, competing at the National Secondary Schools Swimming Championships.

  • The Greytown Cheerful Chair Exercise Group, helping continue its popular weekly strength and balance classes for older residents.

In addition to funding approved through the Community Funding round, the Trustees also approved $6,500 from the Trust's Projects of Substance Fund to support the Pāpāwai–Mangarara Stream Catchment Group's environmental restoration work, reflecting the Trust's commitment to projects that deliver lasting benefits for the Greytown community.

Demand for funding once again exceeded the funds available, reflecting the incredible work being undertaken throughout our community.

Several other sporting applications demonstrated considerable merit but sought funding well beyond what was available through this funding round. Trustees have invited some applicants to return to discuss future opportunities for support through other Trust funding initiatives.

The Trust also gratefully acknowledges the generous donation received from the Greytown Community Gym following its recent disestablishment. This generous contribution has strengthened the Trust's Sport & Active Recreation Fund, enabling support for community participation initiatives and local athletes. The Trustees extend their sincere thanks to the former Gym committee and members for their generosity, which will continue to benefit Greytown's sporting community in the years ahead.

Congratulations to all successful recipients, and thank you to everyone who applied. The quality of applications continues to demonstrate the strength, generosity and vibrancy of our community.
